“I am kino-eye, I am mechanical eye, I, a machine, show you the world as only I can see it… My path leads to the creation of a fresh perception of the world I decipher in a new way, a world unknown to you.”
(Dziga Vertov, 1923)
As a research and media institute, our mission is to conduct research and explore alternative strategies relating to the visual representation of culture and the production of visual media. In addition, the Kino-Eye Center supports and facilitates media production, distribution, and education outreach.
In the tradition of Dziga Vertov’s concept of the “kino-eye”, we are dedicated to creating fresh perceptions of the world, by applying advances in visual technology and theory, as directed by the interdisciplinary expertise of professionals and theorists in areas including visual and cultural studies, art & art history, english, visual anthropology, education, and communications & media.
