Shelea Majors, an experienced elementary school teacher, with over ten years of service in the public school system and four years in private education, exemplifies the Kino-Eye Center’s devotion to promoting educational accomplishment. Shelea has extensive experience teaching children in areas of high socio-economic risk. She holds certifications in ESL and gifted/talented, and has worked in an administrative capacity as a Title III and Reading One-to-One coordinator. For her service to ESL students, she was named ESL Teacher of the Year in 2005.
In addition to her career in education, Shelea has worked on a number of award winning documentary and fiction film productions. Through extensive international travel and the incorporation of this experience into classroom instruction, Shelea pioneered the unique applied approach upon which the Kino-Eye Center’s educational outreach strategy is based. Her work emphasizes the potential of innovative uses of visual media, as supplemental to traditional education models.
